Puss In Boots at St George’s

The Dragon Theatre Company presents its latest production in Puss In Boots. 

What do you get if you take a smarter than average cat, a plucky hero, a madcap dame,

and a mischievous baddie that you love to hate?

Puss In Boots is a classic story with a modern twist featuring some very talented characters.

I received an invite to pop along and enjoy 

a brilliant and heartwarming traditional pantomime production mixed in with plenty of great acting, wit, plenty of humour and enjoyment. 

Based on the much loved fairy tale the modern day take includes memorable scenes from the village square, Royal palace, and the woods by the lake. There’s a visit to the Ogre’s Hal and dungeon after the interval. 

There are moments of quirky choreography which greatly add to the production as well as maintaining a good level of engagement with the mixed audience both young and old. 

The whole cast are vivid and full of energy throughout whilst getting fully immersed and involved with their song and dance routines and engaging with the audience both on and off stage. 

The characters frequently interact with the crowd ensuring everyone is happy and smiling. 

The very talented characters are genuinely full of warmth and match each other in using great improvisation to deliver great individual performances which come together just like a great jigsaw puzzle. 

With such a talented cast and the classy narration of Helen McMahon, it’s actually really easy to be complimentary about this superb production  

The performance at St George’s Church Hall, Gants Hill contains plenty of live singing and constantly encourages a happy audience to participate all the way. 

For me the genuine and heartwarming nature of the actors won me over. This is a low budget performance – the energy, enthusiasm and the sheer authenticity of the characters are more than sufficient to make this such an entertaining production thus making it a jolly and entertaining two hours.
