Volunteers from Darul Ummah Goresbrook have broken the Little Litter League litter record during a Remembrance Sunday get together in Goresbrook, Barking & Dagenham.
The team of adults and children were led by Manor Junior School student Mustafa Abidin and were sent into the neighbourhood in pairs to collect litter and brighten up the locality.
During the session the team collected food, nappies, cans, bottles, a suitcase, toys and plastic packaging.
The dynamic team of youngsters and adults collected 58 bags to set a new record.
Volunteer Zoinul Abidin commented, “Today was challenging. Some of us were brave enough to clear out a whole alleyway. It was dirty work and required great discipline. We pulled it off with flying colours. Well done Team!”
Emdad Rahman from the Little Litter League added, “The volunteers at Darul Ummah Goresbrook love this activity and take great pride in taking care of their neighbours. We hope our humble activities will act as an inspiration for others to replicate. A huge bonus to set a new record here today!”
