The Inner London Football League are celebrating after two decades of excellent service to the community through local football.
A gala event and awards ceremony sponsored by Icon College, The Canary Wharf Group, Mayfair Venue and Pride of Asia saw players, representatives and dignitaries from London and beyond assemble to celebrate the achievements of veteran footballers after a gap of a whole year in between thanks to the global Covid Pandemic.
ILFL management and guests handed out awards for the last 2 years to community projects as well Cup Winners and League Champions. This included current TVL Champions Weavers FC, who had a star studded line up in attendance, which included first teamers Atiqur Rahman, Ruhul Alam, Ash Rahman and Khalid Rahman.
Unlike other Leagues the ILFL remains hugely popular amongst veteran footballers and despite operations halting during the pandemic the League has come back stronger with more teams than ever signing up for Thursday Night Football.
Special thanks were reserved for member teams who have participated in football events throughout the last twenty years.
Inner London Football League Chairman Rashid Ali commented, “We are extremely proud of our achievements as a team of dedicated volunteers and over the last two decades we have engaged thousands of footballers in prolonging their careers and maintaining their wellbeing, by staying involved in a competitive League tailored to suit their needs and levels.
“In fact such has been the success of Veterans Football that we have youth players consistently talking about reaching the age of 35 and qualifying for vets status.
“I would like to thank the teams, refs, current and previous ILFL management committees as well as our sponsors, for helping us to provide such an excellent service to engage and support our community. Here’s to another twenty years!”
