She Awards celebrate amazing women

The She Awards was launched in July 2018 to celebrate 100 years of the women’s vote and is a platform which recognises the achievements and contributions of women from all walks of life.

This year the SHE awards celebrated International Women’s day on 9th March at the Grove Banqueting venue in Romford with the aim and vision to bring communities together through inspiration and elevating women, especially within the BAME community.

There were over 200 attendees at the event from all over the UK including Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Wales and various locations in London.

Honorary guests included the mayor of Redbridge and Havering and 2018 Apprentice star Jasmine Kundra.

SHE Awards co-founder Sharifa Begum said, “It filled my heart with so much joy to see so many smiles and inspiration under one roof.”

Awards were presented in the following categories:

– Business Woman – Champion Fundraiser – Community Champion – Champion Fundraiser – Honorary Award – Inspirational role model – Remarkable woman – Sapphire – A girls best friend – Unsung Heroine – Valiant Volunteer – Warrior

Minara (Meghna)Uddin from Tower Hamlets won the highly commended remarkable woman award.

Meghna was glowingly described by her nominator.,“In more than one way Minara’s ambitions, passions, intelligence, and accomplishments make her highly deserving of the remarkable woman of the year.”

Meghna’s life journey and wealth of experience has benefited many from the youth and diverse communities.

Her unique approach, knowledge and talents have inspired,motivated, empowered, enabled and engaged many, from young people to adults, friends and family.

After accepting her award Meghna commented, “From victim, survivor, to warrior, anything is possible. You just have to believe in yourself and your ability to do it.”

The She awards is supported and sponsored by various local  businesses and will be back again in 2020 celebrating International women’s day.
