Workhouse FC are the ILFL Cup winners after one of the most one sided finals ever played in the history of the Inner London Football League.
A goal frenzy at Mabley Green against back to back champions Beaumont FC saw one man battering ram Richard Shittu score four goals to effectively finish off the showpiece final in the first half.
Flying winger Abdul Sabur who starred in the semi-final win over Stepney FC was back to his devastating best and wrapped up proceedings with a clinical brace in the second half.
With injured club legend Hassan Abdullah assisting from the sidelines, Workhouse put in a leaner, meaner and hungrier performance on the night to take the winners medals.
There were great cheers all round as Captain Haris Miah lifted the winner’s trophy having led Workhouse to the most comprehensive cup final win in the history of the Inner London Football League.
Club stalwart Hassan Abdullah commented, “The boys have worked hard throughout and we had notable performances which came about as a result of our strong team unit.
“There was kashem who stepped in for Ghous as an emergency goalkeeper in the quarter and semi-final and produced two unforgettable goalkeeping performances, Haris and his assurance at the back was a major springboard, the raw power of Richard, and Sabur has overcome his injuries and come back with a vengeance. I am very proud of our achievement.”
Inner London Football League Vice Chair Rashid Ali said, “Hard work pays off and Workhouse are a great example of how team unity and hunger can combine to bring success all round. Congratulations to the team.”
