East London community activist Islam has excelled at the University of East London annual awards by being recognised for two awards.
Rofiqul received two highly prestigious awards from the University of East London – The Mental Wealth Advocacy award and The UEL 125th anniversary celebratory award.
Rofiqul, who is a Tower Hamlets resident, and who works for Camden Council has served communities with distinction for many years. During Covid he was part of a team of three who launched the East and Covid Support Network and subsequently shared i on bed 50,000 food parcels with people facing hardship.
Speaking after receiving his awards Rofikul commented, “I am over the moon to receive two awards and j dedicate them to my family and friends, who have continuously encouraged me to do my bit to reach out to others.
“I am grateful to have been in a position to play a part in highlighting hardship in our neighbourhoods and working with partners to do something positive.”
