Cricket Smash at Coggeshall CC

Coggeshall Town Cricket Club have delivered a brilliant post Covid Summer Smash for Under 11 girls.

Amidst a global pandemic it is one of the first cricket engagement camps to be arranged since the UK wide lockdown has been eased.

The cricket festival hosted by Coggeshall Town CC and Essex Cricket in the Community took part at the North Essex clubs home ground and involved 8 a side softball games designed to ensure participation of each player with the bat and ball.

Iain Kinsman, Colts Manager at Coggeshall Crick Club commented, “It’s been a tremendous experience for all our players and well done to every single player today. I’ve been impressed with how united and supportive the girls were towards each other to ensure it was an enjoyable day for everyone.”

Lauren Onojaife, community officer, Essex Cricket added, “Its been an amazing day and the girls who took part will have some great memories to take away from today. It’s really been inspirational throughout!”

* High Roding
* Kelvedon
* Ekota North Essex All Stars

Although large parts of the UK had suffered with high winds the day before the festival took place, albeit with a few reduced numbers. In total 31 girls took part and due to the great success of the event it is planned that the Girls Summer Smash will become an annual fixture.

“I would like to thank the organisers for a terrific event and the confidence it has given our players today will hold them in good stead for the future” said Mizanur Rahman, CEO of Ekota academy.
