A UK based charity, Beani Bazar Cancer and General Hospital – BBCGH, with hospital services and facilities in Bangladesh is playing a lead role in providing medical care at grassroots level. BBCGH provides access to primary medical care to the poor and underprivileged people of Bangladesh.
The hospital provides awareness, and affordable diagnosis, a wide range of healthcare services for early detection of cancer and general healthcare and services to the people of Bangladesh. The ‘Hospital Poor Fund’ provides free diagnosis and medical care to the economically disadvantaged and indigent people of society.
Beani Bazar Cancer and General Hospital hosted its 5th Annual Life Member Award Ceremony at the Royal Regency, London, UK, in recognition of the valuable contributions and support to the Hospital by it’s Life Members, inevitably paramount to the growth and development of the Hospital.
In addition, the Hospital fundraiser segment received pledges of commitment in excess of £83,000 on the November 2019 charity dinner evening.
Chief guests present at the event included Jonathan Prince MBE – Chair of Trustees for the Pink Ribbon Foundation who commented, “cancer is a curable disease but it is possible to control it through medical care.
“The biggest thing to do in the present day is to create a huge public awareness against cancer. The work that is being done in the treatment of cancer patients for the benefit of Bangladesh from Britain is undoubtedly exemplary.
“We all need to help this service organization with its position, especially in providing services to economically disadvantaged people.”
Amongst the many special guests at the awards ceremony in attendance a
were Dr Rofiqul Islam, Stephen Timms MP, Seema Malhotra MP, Newham Council Mayor Rukshana Fiaz OBE and the Mayor of Croydon Councillor Humayun Kabir.
The key message from special guests encouraged all attendees to participate in humanitarian work.
BBCGH hosted many high profile dignitaries from the British Bangladeshi community who reiterated and emphasised the importance of promoting the health care aspects of the Hospital. The evening also highlighted the importance of those interested in humanitarian and charitable work with various opportunities provided to get involved in this project.
Beanibazar Cancer and General Hospital Trustee Ali Abdur Rauf also shared his story and journey with cancer.
Life Member Awards were presented by Channel S Chairman Ahmed Us Samad JP, Founder of Channel S Mahi Ferdous Jalil, NTV Europe CEO Sabrina Hossain, UK Awami League President Sultan Sharif, Councillor Ayesha Chowdhury, Councillor, UK Awami League General Secretary Sajidur Rahman, BCA Senior Vice President Oli Khan and Sanwar Chowdhury.
The evening began with warm greetings and welcome from the Hospitals Head of Programmes, Ms Aamilah Begum, followed by a mesmerising Qur’an recitation segment by Mr Abu Kawser. The event was hosted by Imam Ajmal Masroor, TV Presenter and Community Personality and guests were welcomed by the Hospital Vice Chair, Rouful Islam.
BBCGH CEO, Mr Shab Uddin those involved from the beginning to the present day. He added, “In addition to the Board of Trustees and Life Members the Hospital has a range of healthcare projects that anyone can be involved with.” He concluded by requesting support and involvement from the community.
All current Life Members were awarded with recognition Certificates during the event.
BBCGH received a donation of £455.28 from Vicarage Primary School in London for a mobile clinic in Bangladesh. Vicarage primary have shown immense interest in supporting the new mobile clinic project. Bbcgh senior Fundraising Director Mr Abdul Shafik and Project Development Manager Ms Sabia Khatun conducted a cancer awareness assembly at the school earlier this month. The school was presented with an appreciation certificate for their valuable contributions.
Special honour and appreciation certificates were also presented to UK Awami League, UKBCCI, Square Miles Insurance, Beanibazar Public Works Association (Charity Res.) Beanibazar Thana Public Works Association (Sayad-Ahad), Beanibazar Thana Public Works Association (Mamun Munna), London Tigers, Greater Sylhet Welfare Development & Welfare Council, Overseas Ali Nagar Association, DM High School, Golapganj Helping Hands, Mathura Development Agency, Sridhara Welfare Trust, Conservative Friends of Bangladesh, Jalalabad Foundation UK, Hunters Estate Agent.
Renowned Nasheed Artist and Singer Alaur Rahman and Johan Ahmed entertained the guests with spectacular performances throughout the evening.
BBCGH’s 5th Annual Life Member Award was delivered and supported by the Senior Fundraising Director – Abdul Shafik, Marketing Director – Forhad Hossain Tipu, Fundraising Director – Manjurus Samad Choudhury Mamun, Fundraising Director – Mohammed Azizur Rahman, Muazim Uddin – Trustee and Sabia Khatun – Project Development, Aamilah Begum – Head of Programmes and Sofna Noor – Office Manager, and dedicated volunteers.
