Two times Greater Sylhet Upazila champions and four times finalists Osmani Nagar Football Club are embarking on an inaugural and historic British Bangladesh Upazilla football tour to Bangladesh.
The squad and team officials will be touring Balagonj and Osmani Nagar between 16-23 February 2019.
The heritage tour has been appropriately labelled ‘Back to our Roots’ and the team will play four games in Osmani Nagor.
There will be diplomatic receptions along with heritage and educational trips followed by a two day charity deployment which will include distribution of football boots and kit collected by ILFL World Cup winning forward Abul Hussain.
There will also be a visit to the ‘Golmukapon Darus Sunnah School for their annual gathering which will have 1000 locals in attendance.
Custom 20kg rice bags will be distributed to the needy and 150 trees will be planted as part of a climate change project.
Osmani Nagar team manager Rashid Ali will be assisted by ILFL World Cup winner Muhammed Nashir as part of the management team.
Speaking on behalf of the legendary twice wining duo Ali commented, “This is a historic tour and we are beyond excited as British Bangladeshis to be returning to our roots. Great Britain is our home but it will be an emotional and almost surreal experience for us all.
“Apart from the small matter of football there will be an educational element to the tour as we delve into our rich history and we will also be hands on to deliver charitable aid.”
